Hot Crab Dip

Hot crab dip

We posted this recipe in response to some major snow we got in our region, and being served hot (with a little spice!) it’s perfect snowy weather food.

Our “recipe” (a little by recipe, a lot by feel…) as follows:

-3 cups, or so, of cleaned crab (canned crab works too! We used crab we had stashed in the freezer)

-8 ounces (1 package) cream cheese

-2 cups cheddar cheese, with 1/2 cup reserved from the rest

-A few spoonfuls mayonnaise

-Juice from half a lemon

-A bunch of shakes, to taste, your favorite hot sauce

-Some shakes of garlic powder

-Some shakes of onion powder

Preheat oven to 350. Stir together all ingredients in a big bowl until fully combined, omitting the 1/2 cup cheddar cheese. Place in oven safe casserole dish and bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and bake 10 minutes more at 400, or until mixture is bubbly and the top is light golden brown.
